If you’re seeking the ultimate party makeup, look no further than the 1920s and the Golden Age of Hollywood. From music videos to the Met Gala red carpet, we’re seeing a resurgence in vampy vintage tones such as Cranberry Makeup.

“Cranberry Makeup – along with all of those cranberry-esque tones like maroon lipstick and burgundy lipstick – is the colour of classic glamour,” says Terry Barber, M·A·C Creative Director of Makeup Artistry. “It’s timeless – and there’s a moment for it in every decade.”

Even though this look relies on rich and moody cranberry shades, there’s a soft romanticism to their application. “It’s not so snatched,” says Barber. “There’s a smoky decadence…a little bit rounder with the eyes, blush that’s placed a bit higher on the cheek and a blurred lip.”

Like makeup trends in the 1920s, Cranberry Makeup marks an exciting shift for modern beauty. “Shapes are changing, colour tones are changing, moods are changing,” says Barber. “It’s a makeup renaissance.”
